News and sourced reporting

Factual claims should be traceable to reliable sources. The newsroom should distinguish direct evidence, attributed claims and analysis instead of flattening them into one voice.

Rumor Report

Rumor Report is a clearly labelled format for unconfirmed claims, public speculation and relationship chatter. We carry a rumor only after at least two separate outlets have reported it, and we name who reported it. Nothing unconfirmed in that lane should be rewritten as fact. Confirmed details remain separate from the rumor itself, and allegations of wrongdoing wait for an editor's review.

Sensitive stories

Serious criminal allegations, sexual misconduct, fraud claims and similarly reputation-damaging accusations do not auto-publish because a scheduling timer expired. They are held for higher editorial review.

Technology & automation

Our newsroom uses AI and other software tools for tasks including research assistance, transcription, source organisation, drafting support and production. These tools do not replace source verification or editorial responsibility. Published reporting is reviewed against its underlying sources, and we do not intentionally publish unverified AI-generated claims.

Authorship

Fictional reporters are not presented as real employees. Desk bylines identify the responsible editorial unit. A personal byline is reserved for work that person substantially contributed to and stands behind.

Corrections

Material corrections should be visible and dated. Rumor stories should be updated prominently when a subject confirms, denies or materially changes the underlying claim.
